Cathode-ray tube installation
The installation employs the interconnection and manipulation of hardware from the 1990s and early 2000s to capture the sensory and factual aspects of Casablanca's popular sites and hubs of everyday life. The recorded soundscapes of places such as the Souk Koriaa in Derb Sultan and the industrial area of Aïn Sebaa are augmented with supplementary data, including temperature readings, date and GPS coordinates. The data from these different urban environments are converted into signals and visualized using an oscilloscope and displayed on a CRT television wall, which functions as an interface to mediate the hardware-generated audio-visual landscape of Casablanca.
